For the assessment of hydrocarbon bearing ore samples the first stage of pyrolysis testing is the Modified Fischer Assay (MFA). This test requires approximately 100 grams of sample and is useful in providing a preliminary ore grade assessment. This method also provides a complete mass-balance and basic characterization of: oil, free moisture, retort water, evolved gases, and spend solids.
A new and improved automated system has been developed in-house to allow a larger volume of tests to be conducted in a shorter period of time. Multiple units may run simultaneously to ensure the clients' samples are analyzed faster allowing for greater efficiency and shorter turn-around times.
Each Modified Fischer Assay unit has a temperature controller to run the ASTM standard temperature ramp curve once the program is initiated. Lab technicians then analyze the water, oil, and gas products at the end of each test.
